Web Comics Listings!
« on: July 08, 2010, 04:34:01 PM »

I'll start this off with some web comics I read a lot of. This forum is for regular comics too i'm sure, so don't be discouraged if you want to talk about those, I just don't read  those much, so i'll talk about these Tongue

So I used to read a lot of web comics, but i'm ashamed to say it's pretty much come down to two. I still have a whole bunch on my favourites bar, but first and foremost, the ones I read are:

MegaTokyo: http://www.megatokyo.com/
I don't think I need to say much about this...if you've read web comics you've probably heard of this one, just like penny arcade and xkcd.

Applegeeks: http://www.applegeeks.com/
A genius apple lover creates a super robot girl. "igirl" as it were. Haha, how many of us would kill for one of those?
cheesy

The Order of the Stick: http://www.giantitp.com/Comics.html
A true Dungeons and Dragons parody...or maybe that's true telling, I never got a game in that didn't leave me comatose with laughter :Ď

Zap!: http://www.zapcomic.com/
Ah the Artwork...the story... well, the space captain was kinda reminiscient of a young kirk to me when I started reading this comic, but a few hundred issues later, the story is still pulling me in.

The Tao of Geek: http://www.taoofgeek.com/
I am soo behind on this one. Liz Walsh updates a staggering 6 times a week! Great fun comic about a few geeks and geek girls and some magic/technology thrown in that somehow was completely believable at the time!

Antihero for Hire: http://antihero.keenspot.com/
This guys' artwork has got better and the story is still as funny and facepalming as ever. Shadehawk's super power? He has a really big gun.

I guess that's it from me. I've read a bunch more, but those will probably stay on my bar for a long time to come, even if I don't catch up anytime soon.
Please feel free to post your own so we can have a look grin

El Goonish Shive
http://www.egscomics.com/
Absolutely mad comedy full of transformations...

Neko the Kitty
http://www.nekothekitty.net/cusp/latest.php
A rather amusing comic about a cat...called neko

VG Cats
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?
A comic that pretty much takes the piss out of a heck of alot of games

Super Effective
http://www.vgcats.com/super/
A sub-comic of VG Cats, all about pokemon

Gone With the Blastwave
http://www.blastwave-comic.com/
Amusing, apocalyptic, silly and has probably the best art in a web comic i've ever seen

Shortpacked
http://shortpacked.com/
All about a toy store...amusing, but has alot of transformeers jokes which i don't get (the author is obsessed with transformers =_=)

Tsunami Channel
http://www.tsunamichannel.com/
Has several webcomics in it, including Experimental Comic Kotone, Magical Mina and Love Situations

I've read more, but i can't remember what they are/were atm, though i would definitely recommend all of these, as they are highly amusing grin

I read quite a few webcomics but lately I only stay updated on a few.

Currently reading:

Cyanide & Happiness
http://www.explosm.net/  -This is one of my favorite. Awesome and (most of the time) over the line humor.

VG Cats
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?
They used to update a lot more. They are some of the best video-game-poke-fun-at (?) comics ever. And the characters are hilarious to.

Gone With the Blastwave
http://www.blastwave-comic.com/
I am so happy somebody else has seen this. This is one of the funniest comics I have read. The dialog is great but it's the comics that have very little that are the funniest to me. Their actions are funnier then their words. I have to give you an example: #1 (ok this has average amount of dialog but oh well) http://www.blastwave-comic.com/index.php?p=comic&nro=28        #2  http://www.blastwave-comic.com/index.php?p=comic&nro=13   (I think this one is my favorite)  Anyway I could post examples all day so just read it.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal   or SMBC
http://www.smbc-comics.com/
While maybe not quite as funny comic for comic as Gone With the Blastwave, this is still my favorite comedy webcomic. Each strip is stand alone, the jokes are freaking hilarious, and it is updated each and every day. One of the greatest ever. And they started doing funny short videos. Not as good as the comics but still worth a laugh.

Misfile
http://www.misfile.com/
Fairly decent art, funny at times, cute story. It was enough to get me hooked. The plot is pretty dang original to so I definitely recommend it.

Questionable Content or QC
http://questionablecontent.net/
A little more mature than your average comic with real-life situations. Art was low grade at first but quicky became awesome. Also very funny but like I said, it is more adult themed than the others.

Zap!
http://www.zapcomic.com/
Like Ikalx said, this one is good. A very original plot and after a short while the art became very top notch. It only updates weekly though so it is a little slow to me but mostly worth it. Read it!

No Need For Bushido or NNFB
http://noneedforbushido.com/
Awesome art, pretty funny, and a decent plot. I takes awhile to update but (kinda like Zap) it is worth it. Though Zap is still better.

The Noob
http://www.thenoobcomic.com/index.php
If you like mmorpg's (or video games in general) or hate mmorpg's (and like to see them made fun of) then this is your comic. They pull out all of the mmorpg and other video game stereo types and hit them hard. Funny and smart.

Twokinds
http://2kinds.com/
CUTE!. A pretty good story with pretty good art. A cute romance/fantasy story. Definitely worth a look as well.

Well That is pretty much all I have kept up on in the last month or so. Didn't I say a few?

These have not been checked in over a month. (I promise I will keep it short...er)

Errant Story
http://www.errantstory.com/
One of my favorites. It had a great story with pretty good art and dng good characters. Awesome Fantasy/action/comedy. They do use curse words so you have been warned. Not quite sure why I stopped.

MegaTokyo
http://www.megatokyo.com/
Yes it is very popular and it used to be my all time favorite. It was probably the first real webcomic I got into and when I caught up to the current my first time (oh maybe 3 or 4 years ago) I immediately re-read it. I loved it and I really have no clue as to why I stopped. The artist has an amazing style that I still this is my favorite. Mostly a love story and partly an action story. And on that note I will read it again and catch up.

Pokemon-x
http://pokemonx.comicgenesis.com/
If you like Poke'mon then read it. I don't play the games, watch the show, or trade the cards anymore but I still like it. It's a funny take on the Poke'mon world done with the game sprites.

Looking for Group
http://www.lfgcomic.com/
Really, really funny. The sorcerer guy makes this comic. He is a comedic genius.

Goblins
http://goblins.keenspot.com/
This is an awesome one. Again no clue why I stopped reading it. The art is amazing and it gives you the story through the goblins perspective and does it with an rpg feel. It is done very well and I highly recommend it.

Ok ok I could really go on a lot more but I must stop. Here are the good ones. I know there are some really good ones I forgot to mention and I will think of them right after I post. At one point I was reading 40 or 50 of these webcomics at once. Though I didn't work in those days and it took less to keep my attention.

I think I know why i've been less interested in MegaTokyo for a while.. While I only started reading not all that long ago, I figured that maybe because Largo left? I don't know much about it, but they had some really good strips up to when Largo is talking to Erica after the big melee when they're first kinda attracted to each other, among all the craziness in the background...then it kinda settled down a little. Took a bit of a slower pace...less of the ninj4 (Jinrai?) dude and less action, I guess.

Maybe it's just slowed down a bit.

Anyone know any good sprite comic? I have been trying to find this one sprite comic which I don't remember the name of. Which started with people getting robbed, I think... I barely remember what it is about but I want to read it again..

nvm-managed to find it after hours of search.

Right, A LIST!
Webcomics I check daily:
Aeria
Chimneyspeak (VERY NSFW, you`ve been warned)
Doctor Holocaust (dead, far as I can tell)
Erfworld
Freak Angels (Also NSFW)
Goblins
Gunnerkrigg Court
Looking for Group
Lulu Cthulu
Megatokyo (slowly dying, kind of a shame)
Modest Medusa
Order of the Stick
Paranatural
Questionable Content
Root Rot
Trying Human (mildly NSFW)
Two Kinds (much nudity, and much hilarity/cuteness)
XKCD

Most highly suggested by me are QC, XKCD, Goblins, and Erfworld.

I was reading erfworld, but I kinda dropped off - and dropped off OOTS at the same time! And seemingly all the rest of the comics, except MT.

Applegeeks seems to have died, and TaoOfGeek actually finished while I wasn't looking! I was shocked... never got to see the last comic when she made it, never got to say it was awesome. Ah well...still have to finish it too, lol.

pretty sure that is a proper manga : P

webcomics are more like the short comics you see in newspapers, just published online.
