Greatest Fictional Strategist?
« on: June 01, 2010, 12:29:12 AM »

While browsing the web looking into my favorite book's movie plans, I ran into an interesting thought, in fictional settings, there are hundreds, neigh thousands of military strategists, and when picturing a few of them waging war against eachother, few pop to mind. But of those few, its so hard to decide, which would win?

This includes all fictional strategists, not restricted only to anime. Should the highly probable situation of me missing some major players in this competition arise, please Post who you think should be an option and I will add them. If you think it would be a tie, please post who you think it would be a tie between.

I can't wait to see opinions on this. grin

BTW, if anyone reads this post before voting, keep in mind its not a popularity contest - its a question of which strategist you believe would be best to command an army in a war. Wink

Andrew Wiggin all the way. Lelough is also good but Andrew dealt with strategies on a much larger scale and had a lot more at stake. The Ender books are definitely in my top 3 book series.

Does it has to be military strategist?

Toua Tokuchi from One Outs and Shinichi Akiyama from Liar Game are pretty awesome. : )

Yeah an awesome addition. What about Hakouro from Utawarerumono?

Heh or Yuri from Angel Beats... ok that was one a joke.

Damn, how'd I forget him?! Added.

I can't really see either of them competing against any of the existing... If someone else agrees with adding these 2, I'll put them up, or if you can narrow it down to 1... :S

Comparing Apples with Grapes is something I would rather not do. Really, its hard enough to compare them when they do the same thing. Though Light Yagami isn't military, its similar enough that he can be compared. :S

Ribbons Almark and Sumeragi Lee Noriega are good but adding them to this list would be like a 8yr old fighting shamrock in a no holds barred fight they'd just get creamed cool

ROFL, True enough. Both of them relied fully on a technological advantage they were handed on a silver-platter. Even Light Yagami, the person least deserving in the list IMHO, would have been a far better strategist than both of them combined - that is, if neither had the quantum computer at the time. Wink

So many people are voting for draw, but none are actually saying who they think it would be a draw between! Cry

i voted ender but my choice woulda been welkin had he been on the list earlier.
he used his knowledge of just nature to conquer an entire army.
if i had to compare him to someone it would be one of the great roman generals or alexander the greaat.
lelouch and light used knowledge of the human mind which is actually pretty easy. atleast to me its easy

Shoulda waited, I said I would add suggestions to the list Wink Wish you could change your vote after the fact Cry

Really, I personally think Ender would have to be a far better choice, but my faith in that character's capabilities is honestly quite blatantly obvious, simply look at the name. Think about it this way - he used his knowledge of the mind of an alien race moderately similar to ones found in nature. Similar in some respects neh? Though to me it seems a tad more difficult.
* Enderwiggin hopes to see some posts of those who voted for a draw!

But of course, there's bound to be people who don't know the book on an anime forum Wink  Why do I get the feeling lulu's just gonna keep raking them in now? Tongue
